Jane Savage - Candidate for Hurtle Vale

Jane is our candidate for Hurtle Vale.

Jane was born in England and, since moving to Australia, has lived in several states. She has been settled in South Australia for the past 47 years. She has two adult children and four grandchildren.

Jane has worked in retail, hospitality, fruit picking, telemarketing and market research, and also ran her own bookkeeping business for several years. She always returned to market research because she loved meeting and talking to people. She worked for many years as an interviewer with Roy Morgan Research and later with the Australian Bureau of Statistics until her retirement.

Jane has used cannabis as a medication for many years. She is unable to take pharmaceutical medications and even common pain relief makes her unwell. The only medication she does not react to is CBD, yet it remains difficult to access. She is now a medicinal cannabis patient on a pension and struggles to meet the cost of her medication.

Jane wants to see cannabis legalised because she believes it would benefit the economy, make access easier and more affordable for those who need it, and support environmental sustainability. She believes growing cannabis locally and producing locally made cannabis products would strengthen our economy. Struggling farmers could diversify into hemp production for fibre, oil, seeds and medication. The whole plant can be used, with minimal waste.
