Jessica Nies is the Lead Candidate for the Legislative Council of South Australia and President of the Legalise Cannabis South Australia Party.
Jessica’s advocacy is shaped by lived experience. After years of chronic pain and fatigue caused by fibromyalgia, she was medically terminated from her career in 2018 and placed on heavy pharmaceutical medications that nearly cost her life. In 2019, she transitioned to cannabis and experienced firsthand the benefits of whole plant treatment.
Since joining Legalise Cannabis South Australia in 2020, Jessica has played a key role in building the Party and leading its successful registration ahead of the 2022 State Election. She later stood as the Party’s Lead Senate Candidate for South Australia in the 2025 Federal Election, achieving a strong result with limited resources.
Jessica also sees the urgent opportunity to build a thriving hemp industry in South Australia’s regional areas, creating jobs, supporting farmers and driving a stronger, cleaner future through sustainable building, agriculture and manufacturing.
She will once again represent the Party as Lead Candidate for the Legislative Council, while remaining a dedicated mother and advocate for health based cannabis reform.
