Mathew is standing to give South Australians the opportunity to have their say on sensible cannabis law reform.
He supports the Legalise Cannabis South Australia Party’s Cannabis Amnesty policy, which would immediately end penalties for adults who use, possess or grow small amounts of cannabis for personal or medicinal use. The aim is to stop South Australians being fined or criminalised for low level offences and to allow patients who cannot afford prescription medicinal cannabis to grow their own supply.
He also supports changes to South Australia’s drug driving laws so that prescribed medicinal cannabis patients are not penalised simply for the presence of cannabis in saliva when they are not impaired and are following their doctor’s instructions.
Mathew believes these changes would reduce harm, reflect community expectations and move cannabis policy toward a more practical and health focused approach.
